Competition Teams
At Rising Heights Dance, dancers looking to take their training to the next level have the opportunity to audition for our Competition Teams. Team members build their skills through advanced training, travel experiences, and the chance to connect with dancers from other studios.
Our competition dancers attend one convention and three competitions each season, with additional performance and event opportunities available. Team members also perform in our annual Competition Showcase.
Auditions are open to dancers ages 6 and older who have at least one year of dance experience, or by teacher invitation.

Competition Requirements
Our competition teams are divided by age and skill level. All teams are expected to take ballet and their team choreography class, and may be asked to take an additional courses depending on team levels. All placements are according to the Competition Directors' decision and are final.
Competition teams meet weekly for classes throughout the season. Attendance is required. Dancers are expected to attend the Summer Intensive and Choreography Weeks over the summer. Students who do not attend Choreography Week will be cut from competition teams.
All competition dancers who have competed for one previous year are allowed to request a solo, duo or trio and the opportunity to compete at local competitions/conventions during the season.
Competition Attendance Agreement
By joining a competition team, families agree to the following:
-
Attendance is mandatory for all required technique classes, rehearsals, workshops, and dress rehearsals.
-
Advance communication is required for any absence. Illness, school required functions, injury, and emergencies are the only acceptable reasons for missing.
-
Excessive absences — excused or unexcused — affect participation. If a dancer misses more than 5 days of classes without an approved make-up plan, an accountability meeting will be held and further action may be taken.
-
The studio may change positions, remove featured parts, or pull a dancer from a routine if they are not fully prepared.
-
Dancers with ongoing attendance issues may be placed on attendance probation or removed from the team.
-
All competition fees, costumes, and choreography fees are non-refundable, regardless of attendance or performance status.
Joining the competition team means committing to show up consistently and support the team.
Unexcused absences should be made up quickly by attending classes at the same level or lower level than the class being made up. They must be coordinated with the front desk.
This is a 10 month commitment from August 2026-May 2027.
